Check out the exchange on Ukraine. This, is where pb thinks America is headed for a year from now.

The Swamp, led by "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" may create WW 3. But, if the world's still around, DeSantis’s take is what pb thinks we need.

    For those who don’t want to listen to 38 minutes of Ron DeSantis and Tucker Carlson, punctuated by Tucker’s cackling, here in this link are some of Ron DeSantis’s word salad responses on topics like Ukraine.

    Suffice to say Ron DeSantis is not ready for prime time on the international stage. I am curious as to what HtS found to agree with in Ron DeSantis’s take on Ukraine other than banalities such as we should strive for peace

    The DeSantis take on "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" Ukraine policy is perfect, though not original. The Doddering Old Fool has no notion of an end game for our involvement in Ukraine.

    This is precisely what pb was saying since Russian troops began to move toward the border. Joe reacted...and belatedly...AND inadequately. He seems to want Ukraine to lose...slowly.

    My guess is that you've read Covey's classic, THE SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE.

    The Former Trucker didn't do that. I suspect that, along with the rest of the Swamp, Joe just needs to have a war for his cronies to fight.

    DeSantis has an end in mind for Ukraine.

    So you think that Ron DeSantis‘s take on Ukraine is “perfect“, but you still don’t have a clue as to what he would do. Would DeSantis send more arms to Ukraine or fewer? How would DeSantis end the war in Ukraine? You cannot tell us the “end in mind” that DeSantis has for Ukraine. That’s OK DeSantis couldn’t tell us either.

    Close, peebs. Biden doesn't want us to "lose slowly" - he prefers a long drawn-out battle with no end game like Afghanistan. Ukraine - just like Afghanistan and Vietnam and ever other post WWII war - is nothing more than a money laundering operation. There have already been overtures of peace talks from more than one party (notably NOT us) - and Biden has rejected all of them. The last thing he - or Desantis for that matter - wants is an end to the goose laying the golden eggs.

    Your contention that this is "a money laundering operation" is bang on.

    As you know, Indy!, the two of us have very different political ideologies but we both hate what I refer to as the Swamp...the self-serving, corrupt DC political cesspool. On that we are in perfect unity.

    I watched about half of Carlson’s interviews yesterday. It's clear to me that a growing number of us are fed up with the money laundering operation the Swamp is sponsoring in Ukraine...people on the left as well as people on the right.

    The peace proposals between Ukraine and Russia have all basically been that Ukraine should cede whatever territory that Russia invaded and occupies. That's very Neville Chamberlainesque.

    DeSantis says he doesn't want to give Ukraine a blank check. I suppose that means he would limit our support for Ukraine. He also fears that it will be an "open-ended conflict".

    DeSantis also said, "the goal should be to bring it to a conclusion". OK, other than idly watching as Russia swallows up Ukraine, how would that be done? HtS,
    was impressed that DeSantis has an "end in mind", but neither HtS nor DeSantis can articulate how this end would be accomplished.

    China's statement about "territorial integrity" is vague and totally meaningless. They don't say where the Ukrainian borders are or should be. They say nothing about Russia withdrawing from the Ukrainian territory they invaded.

    It's a starting point, Curt. My point was not that Biden won't sign off on some perfect plan - it's that he won't even talk. You don't get peace until you talk. Russian has made noise about wanting to settle in some way - the Ukraine and USA are the ones who refuse to come to the table. You're a homer in all things so you're never going to get that - but that's the reality. There are no other convenient wars to jump into right now to keep the military gravy train on track - so Ukraine has to be held hostage by our MIC and corrupt politicians.

    As I said, that's the Neville Chamberlain approach. You can also achieve peace by defeating your enemy and demanding an unconditional surrender as we did with Germany in WWII. Unlike WWII in which the allies fought the Nazis all the way to Hitler's bunker, the Ukrainians (and NATO nations) just want to the Russians back on their side of the border, before their invasion.

    Russia is the aggressor, invading and occupying parts of Ukraine. Ukraine and Russia are not moral equivalents. The Russian invasion is not the sort of bellicose behavior you want to permit and encourage.

    If a burglar breaks into your home, steals your stuff and beats you up, you don't "make peace" by allowing the burglar to keep the stuff he already stole and permit him to take up residence in part of your place---but not a square foot more!
